Canadian rapper, Daystar Peterson known by his stage name, Tory Lanez has just been sentenced to 10 years in state prison after being found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

The rapper’s sentencing was handed down Tuesday, August 8, 2023, in Los Angeles after almost a full two days of sentencing hearings. Tory was facing over 22 years in prison. After all, Tory said he still cares for Megan, and they bonded over the loss of their mothers. Check out below the full details.

Tory: “We both lost our mothers. We would sit there and drink, and drink until we got numb.”
Tory received over 76 letters on his behalf. The writers include Iggy Azalea and a doctor who treated Lanez for hair loss.

Iggy Azalea asks the judge for a sentence that is transformational, not life-destroying.

Megan says Tory is changing his story & should serve the maximum time for his harassment against her.

Megan: “At first, he tried to deny the shooting ever happened. Then, he attempted to place the blame on my former best friend. In his tantrum of lies, he’s blamed the system, blamed the press and, as of late, he’s using his childhood trauma to shield himself and avoid culpability.”

Tory’s lawyers says he’s innocent but suffers from alcohol abuse, PTSD, & anxiety. The judge was left confused.

Judge Herriford: “Your client at no time indicates he actually shot the victim. What is he alleging he did as a result of alcohol-use disorder if he didn’t do anything?”

District Attorney: “He was almost 29 when he shot Megan, and he had no prior reports of alcohol problems. Video of his arrest shows him walking without stumbling and attempts to bribe Kelsey Harris and Megan, show someone in control of his actions. The shooting was an act of misogyny towards Megan.”

In a 15-minute address, the rapper said: “Give me some sort of alternative that is not prison. I can be a much better man in my community.

‘I’m not standing before you as a celebrity. I stand here as a genuine person who wants a chance. My child needs me – I want to better myself.

I want a chance to show the world that the man you see here today is not the real me.
‘I’m not expecting preferential treatment. But, your honor I’m genuinely asking you with my heart to put me to the test, to give me an opportunity….”

Tory’s lawyers were fighting for him to be released on parole with mental health treatment.

The 31-year-old Lanez was convicted on three felonies: assault with a semi-automatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
